The name Soca Sagaboys has been synonymous within the world of Soca Music for over 2 decades. Its contribution has seen the team become involved in every aspect of this world from touring, hosting radio shows, compering as well as performing alongside leading and upcoming artists. Soca Saga Boys was founded in 1993 by the late Anthony Cumberbatch (16/08/61 – 25/02/05) whose vision was to promote Soca music and Mas across the globe. We are a non-profit organisation consisting of a multi-faceted team of individuals each with a unique skill set and a wealth of experience in our professional careers coming together as a great functioning collective. SSB started its journey purely as a sound system playing at various carnivals and events across the UK. Today we are now an established, independent sound system and masquerade band supplying our own music, equipment, DJ’s and costumes. Our aim is to continue supporting the community and educating the young people of today and tomorrow with our vibrant concoction of colourful, creative, Caribbean culture.
Anthony opened the only music outlet in East London specialising in Soca and Zouk music.
Awarded the ‘Tony Cumberbatch’ award at the Calabash Awards but sadly passed away later this year.
Soca Saga Boys were chosen to represent for David Rodigans 40th anniversary in Germany.
Our tour in Germany gave us the fortunate oppportunity to play alongside two famous Soca artists Bunji Garlin and Faye-Ann Lyons .
Soca Saga Boys won 1st place at the Notting Hill Carnival 2010 performance with their ‘Purple Reign’ costume theme.
Soca Saga Boys launches their ‘Fantastic Sunday’ – powder mas theme to create fun.
Soca Saga Boys celebrates both their 21st Anniversary for participating in the Notting Hill Carnival and the 50th anniversary of Notting Hill Carnival itself.
Later on that year they won an award for Best Music Played runners up at Hackney One Carnival 2014.
Soca Saga Boys joined launched their first frontline edition - big headdresses, extra glitzy makeup and more. They were also fortunate to team up with the Vincy Alliance mas band.
The aligned attributes of Soca Saga Boys is that of sheer drive, determination, dedication and moreover, passion all of which are required to pursue and succeed in something we truly and firmly believe in. We are a team who works exceptionally hard for the benefit of the community around us which fuels that passion for providing them with the overall Carnival experience. We want to grow as an organisation and growth is something that all companies need to attain in order to survive and develop.
